Pair of 18th Century Giltwood Green Settees
An important pair of giltwood settees attributable to Thomas Chippendale circa 1770
The oval channelled backs carved with a central circular rosette suspending swags of bell husks, above serpentine seats, the arms on scrolling supports and fluted side rails, on six fluted legs.
This important pair of settees of attractive small size show features* characteristic of the work of Thomas Chippendale.
*The vertical bearer to the backs and the clamp grooves to the underside of the frames.

Provenance:
Formerly at Stapleford Park, Leicestershire the home of Lord and Lady Gretton. Later moved to Ufford Old Rectory, Lincolnshire – the home of Margaret, Lady Gretton.
The sale of the contents of Ufford Old Rectory May 2000 where these settees were purchased by the current owner.
