Mahogany Three Seater Settee

A George II Mahogany Three Seater Settee
Circa 1750

This important Settee has a rectangular padded back and seat which have recently been reupholstered, with shaped padded arms with curved mahogany supports. These are beautifully carved with acanthus leafs and flower head patera.
The seat is supported on three carved cabriolet legs finished with ball claw feet to the front and three back swept legs with pad feet to the rear.

Provenance: Formerly at Stapleford Park, Leicestershire the home of Lord and Lady Gretton. Later moved to Ufford Old Rectory, Lincolnshire – the home of Margaret, Lady Gretton.
